Building Blocks Occupational Therapy and Support Services proudly provides in-home, in-school, and in-community assessment, intervention, consultation, and support for infants, toddlers, children, adolescents, adults of all ages, and their families. We provide services in Toronto and the surrounding region. At Building Blocks Occupational Therapy and Support Services, we are partners with those we serve and always take a client- and family-centered approach.

At Building Blocks Occupational Therapy and Support Services, we are partners with those we serve. Our purpose is to work together with you, your child, your parent, and/or your other family members to maximize overall health, development, independence and well-being. We will gladly collaborate with your other service providers or treatment team members to achieve optimal outcomes. We offer a range of services including assessment, intervention, consultation, and support in a variety of settings to suit your needs. We are experienced with infants, toddlers, children, adolescents, and adults of all ages.

Laura Cooper, OT Reg. (Ont.)

Occupational Therapist, Owner & Clinical Director
Laura Cooper is an Occupational Therapist and the Founder of Building Blocks Occupational Therapy and Support Services. She is a graduate of the University of Toronto, Master of Science in Occupational Therapy program. Laura has been in practice for almost 20 years, working with a wide range of ages and abilities. She has extensive experience in the field of paediatric development, as well as with children with special needs. She began her occupational therapy career in a predominantly home- and school-based setting with ErinoakKids, and shortly thereafter joined the Sunnybrook Neonatal Follow-Up developmental assessment team. She then returned to providing community services. Her current practice includes offering occupational therapy services in the community; providing in-home, in-school, in-hospital, and in-community assessment, intervention, consultation, and support for infants, children, adolescents, and their families and caregivers, in addition to school staff and other service providers.
Laura is an Adjunct Lecturer with the University of Toronto’s Department of Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science. She is a registered Assistive Devices Program (ADP) Authorizer for seating and mobility devices, orthotic devices, and communication aids. She has attended an extensive number of courses and workshops in the area of child development and intervention. She has also been involved as a Primary Investigator or Supervisor in research projects pertaining to Developmental Coordination Disorder, Early Mobility using adapted power toy cars, and the occupations of children born preterm.

Yoonji Kim, OT Reg. (Ont.)
Occupational Therapist
Yoonji Kim is a dedicated occupational therapist, registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO), who holds a Master's degree from the University of Toronto. Her journey into occupational therapy began through volunteer work, where she discovered its profound benefits and positive impacts on clients and their families. During school, Yoonji received three pediatric placements helping her find her true passion – working with children to support them and their families in achieving their meaningful goals! She has work experience with in-home infant, preschool, and school-based care, developing gross and fine motor skills, sensory processing, and feeding.

Laura MacDonald, OT Reg. (Ont.)
Occupational Therapist
Laura MacDonald is a Registered Occupational Therapist with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) and holds a Master’s degree from McMaster University. She has clinical experience in hand therapy, cognitive rehabilitation, school-based paediatric care, and mental health. She adopts a collaborative approach to develop goals and strategies that support clients to thrive in ways that are meaningful to them.

Kyana Lyttle, OT Reg. (Ont.)
Occupational Therapist
Kyana is a passionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist with a background as a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE). Her early career was focused on supporting children of all abilities, which inspired her to pursue Occupational Therapy and deepen her impact. Kyana holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Behaviour, specializing in Early Childhood Education from McMaster University, and is a recent graduate of Western University’s Occupational Therapy program. Her experience includes working closely with children in a variety of settings, where she has honed her ability to support diverse developmental needs through creative, evidence-based interventions.
Kyana is committed to a strengths-based, family-centered approach, believing that therapy should be both effective and enjoyable. She has gained hands-on experience in areas such as emotional regulation (using Zones of Regulation), fine motor skills, feeding therapy, and handwriting development. Kyana also participated in Holland Bloorview’s Autism Coaching program, where she learned neuro-affirming therapy practices. Outside of work, Kyana enjoys traveling, exploring new places with her niece, and reading. She is excited to collaborate with families to help children reach their goals and build confidence in their abilities.

Eva Chang, OT Reg. (Ont.)
Occupational Therapist
Eva Chang is an Occupational Therapist registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO). Eva holds a Master’s degree from Western University. Eva has volunteer and placement experience working with children within Ontario and internationally, in both clinic and school-based settings. Eva has experience working with adults and older adults providing home based occupational therapy services focussed on transition planning, community integration, independent living skills development and assistive device recommendation. Eva is passionate about providing client and family centered care taking a strengths-based approach to meet each client where they are at. Eva enjoys bringing creativity into her practice to provide services that are engaging for each client.

Francesca Samen, OTA
Occupational Therapy Assistant
Francesca Samen is an Occupational Therapy Assistant with a degree in Psychology from the University of Guelph-Humber and a specialization in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). With three years of experience, she has worked with children across home, center-based, and community settings, providing personalized therapeutic support to help them thrive.

As an aspiring Occupational Therapist, Francesca is passionate about empowering children to achieve their developmental milestones and enhance their daily living skills. She combines her psychology expertise with evidence-based practices to create engaging and supportive environments. Her collaborative approach involves working closely with families and interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized strategies tailored to each child’s unique needs.

Francesca is particularly skilled in play-based interventions, ensuring therapy is both effective and enjoyable for children. Her dedication to fostering growth and her enthusiasm for her work drive her continued commitment to the field of occupational therapy.

Theo Miller, OTA
Occupational Therapy Assistant
Theo Miller is an Occupational Therapy Assistant with a diverse academic background, including holding two Bachelor’s degrees from McMaster University in Chemical & Physical Sciences and Life Sciences. This interdisciplinary foundation, combined with experience in neurological research, assistive technology design, and patient care, informs his work with both analytical precision and creative problem-solving.

As a disabled individual who has navigated the healthcare system firsthand, Theo brings a unique perspective to his practice. With empathy and patience, he helps clients deconstruct their challenges into manageable milestones, leveraging his teaching experience to make complex concepts accessible and engaging. He has supported blind-deaf autistic individuals, as well as those with limb amputations, neurological disorders, and emotional regulation challenges. Above all, Theo is committed to fostering independence and dignity, treating clients as central participants in their care.
